Mava Hawkins Bartron, a resident of Golden Oaks Village in Enid, passed
away on August 23, 2007. She was born in Helena to John William and Lola
Hawkins on July 16, 1912. In her late teens she moved to Illinois then
Indiana and eventually made her home in Glendale, California. Mava was
involved in many civic and religious organizations. She was instrumental
in the development, building and growing of the Glendale Church of the
Brethren. She was a receptionist in a doctor’s office in Glendale for many
years. Mava and her husband, Luther “Bart” Bartron came to Enid to live
in March 1998.
Mava is survived by two sisters, Ruth McCollum of Helena and Bessie
Welch of Enid; three daughters, Betty Joyce Froli, Patsy Panek, Joanne
Versio; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; numerous cousins
and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Luther “Bart” and her
daughter, Rowena Slayback.
The casket will be open at Lanman Funeral Home, Inc. in Helena on
Monday, August 27, 2007 from 1:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M. There will be a
memorial service at the Golden Oaks Village Chapel on September 1,
2007. Burial will be in Forrest Lawn Cemetery in California.
