Comments = I just wanted to say how much I will miss Bill Gaff...he was
my ex-father in law but that didn't stop us from being friend and
communicating about Dustin and Kayla.
Bill gave me unconditual love as I was brought in to the gaff family. I will
always have a special place for Bill. He taught me how to be a tough farm
girl and forget about the city life....and it was such a peaceful time in my
life. I just thank god you are with your 1st grandaughter up in heaven
watching over her and being by her side. I love You Bill....thanks for all
the wonderful mememories we had out on the farm....

Bill loved the Lord with all of his heart first and then came his family. He especially loved his time Bill
loved the Lord with all of his heart first and then came his family. He especially loved his time with
his grandchildren. Even when he was not feeling well, he always made their time together fun. Bill’s
love for others extended beyond his famil, and he always had room in heart for what he called
“family and friends of the heart” which included a multitude of people.
Bill was born at home in Cherokee to Herbert and Ethel Gaff on April 30, 1936. He grew up in
Cherokee and has spent his life there and the Jet area. Bill was always willing to do whatever it took
to provide for his family and had several business ventures before he began working for Alfalfa
Electric. He quit there in 1971 to pursue his dream of becoming a farmer. He served several terms
on the boards of the Jet Co-op and Alfalfa Electric. He also worked for the US Postal Service for
fifteen years as a rural mail carrier substitute. He served in the National Guard Reserve. Bill was
also one of the founders of the Nescatunga Fire Department and was a member of the fire and
rescue team until his health started failing.
Bill had recently become a member of Ridin’ 4 Him Cowboy Baptist Church of Nescatunga. The
congregation voted 100% for him to be Elder Emeritus.
Bill married Merry (Nelson) Johnson on December 7, 1996. They were blessed with almost eleven
years of love, friendship and happiness with God at the center of their marriage.
Bill is survived by his wife, Merry of the home; two sons that he dearly loved, Dusty Gaff and wife,
Tammy and Brett Gaff and wife, Twila, all of Jet; Merry’s two daughters who Bill accepted as his
own, Amy Taylor and Carrie Johnson of Edmond; one sister, Barbara Boyce of Enid; his precious
grandchildren, Dustin, Dakota and Cheyenne Gaff, Cody and Emma Taylor, Kylie Johnson, Maegan
and Raegan Scobey, Kyle and Alanna Nacion Gaff and Taylor Boes and a host of extended family and
friends.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents and two granddaughters, Kayla Gaff and Anna Taylor.
The celebration of Bill’s life will be 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, November 10, 2007 at Lanman Funeral
Chapel in Cherokee with interment at Pleasant View Cemetery north of Jet.
Memorials may be made to Ridin’ 4 Him Cowboy Baptist Church or the charity of the donor’s choice
through the funeral Home.
