Cherokee-Graveside service for Loveta E. (Cook) Booze, age 91years and 2 days, will be Thursday,
January 10, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, three miles north of Carmen with Rev.
Matthew Yoder officiating.  Arrangements are by Lanman Funeral Home, Inc. of Cherokee.  Viewing
will be Wednesday from 10:00 A.M. until 6:00 P.M. with the family present from 4:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.
M. at the funeral home.  

Loveta E. Booze was born in Carmen on January 2, 1917 to Jacob Frost Barker and Mary Eugenia
(DeArmond) Barker and left this life to be with her Lord on January 5, 2008 at Forrest Manor Nursing
Center in Dewey.  She attended Carmen public schools.  She married LeRoy A. “Juggie” Cook on
May 27, 1937 in Alva.  They made their home on farms near Dacoma and Lambert.  They moved to
Cherokee in November 1967 where they resided until his death on April 1, 1971.  Loveta was
employed at the Cherokee Masonic Hospital for several years and later as a clerk at McIntire
Insurance Agency.  She also was an Avon Sales Representative for several years.  Loveta was very
active in her church, New Life Assembly of God in Cherokee, as a teacher in most all departments,
the church pianist and song leader until her health began to fail.   She was mission minded in her
activities and daily life.  On June 27, 1981 she married Charles E. Newlin, and he preceded her in
death on August 31, 1981.  On October 3, 1992 she married Sidney G. Booze in Enterprise, and they
made their home in Oklahoma City. They divorced May 28, 2003 when she returned to reside in
Cherokee.  On April 7, 2007 she moved to Cherokee Manor due to her health.  On September 30,
2007 she moved to Forrest Manor Nursing Center in Dewey where she resided until her death.

Loveta was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Juggie Cook and Charles Newlin; five
sisters and four brothers.

She is survived by her son, Leroy A. Cook and wife, Sherry of Bartlesville; one brother, Raymond E.
Barker and wife, Carolyn of Issaquah, Washington; two grandchildren, Lora D. (Cook) McIntyre and
husband, Kevin of Centennial, Colorado and Aaron J. Cook of Parsons, Kansas; two step
grandchildren, Michelle D. Roberts and husband, Steve of Henderson, Nevada and Beverly J. Dayton
and husband, Don of Hesperia, California; six step great grandchildren and a number of nieces and
nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in her memory to City Rescue Mission, Box 960021,
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73196-0021, either mailed directly or with the funeral home.
