Comments = Betty and girls.  So sorry to hear about the loss of your mom when Betty called me
Thanksgiving evening.  I will always remember the hours we spent playing with our doll furniture at
your home, plus the mean ole rooster that chased me.  The quilt background is so appropriate for her
and the hours she spent quilting uptown. I'm  glad you had her around for so many years, but know
you will miss her so.

Comments = Adeline was an amazing woman I was glad to have met and become acquainted with.  My
kids marvel that she knew who we all were when we arrived on her doorstep unexpectedly just a few
summers ago.  Her mind and body remained agile and active for nearly 98 years... and she was such a
joyful person to be around.  I'm sorry we won't be able to join your family tomorrow as you celebrate
her life and mourn her passing.  We will be with you in thought and spirit.

good of neighbors as you could ask for! Rest in God's arms young lady.
Adeline Josephine LeCrone Gower was born Jan.  13, 1911, in Kennard,
Nebraska, to Edgar H. and Kristina Svoboda LeCrone and passed away Nov. 27,
2008, in Helena, Oklahoma.   Adeline and her family moved from Nebraska to
Minnesota in 1915, and she came to Oklahoma from Minnesota on the train with
her three brothers in 1917 shortly after the death of her mother. She attended a
one-room school called “Toothpick;” and graduated from Helena High School in
1928.  College at Oklahoma A & M brought more than just a degree in 1935 for
Adeline as this is where she met Glen Gower.
Adeline taught at Timberview School two years, and then Glen and Adeline were
married in Tulsa, OK, on May 1, 1936.  Glen worked in Tulsa until 1945 when the
family moved to Norman where Glen worked for Gilt Edge Dairy and Electrolux.
They moved to Helena in 1952 where Glen farmed and Adeline kept busy raising
their family, quilting, and cooking at Helena Nursing Home from 1966 to 1975.
Adeline was active as a Camp Fire Girls Leader in Norman and as a member of
Helena Homemakers Club, UMW, Helena United Methodist Church where she
was a Sunday School teacher for many years, past Treasurer of Good Hope
Cemetery and Helena Senior Citizens, and an accomplished quilter, but mostly
she was a wonderful mother to her four daughters and a beautiful wife to Glen.
Glen and Adeline were fortunate enough to celebrate almost 65 years of
marriage before Glen passed away in Feb. 2001.
Adeline was predeceased by her husband Glen; four brothers, Albert, Winston,
Dannie, and Freddie LeCrone; her parents and her step-mother, Addie; and many
of her much-loved Gower in-laws.  She is survived by her four daughters
Marguerite McMurtrey and husband, Ronal of Cherokee, OK, Glenda Brown and
husband, James Logan of Austin, TX, Diana Jo Whitfield and late husband, Randy
of Austin, TX, and Betty Collins and husband, John of Caney, KS; eight
grandchildren, Rhonda McMurtrey of Oklahoma City, Brenda McMahan and
Douglas McMurtrey of Cherokee, OK, Susan Snook of Fountain Hills, AZ, Jennifer
Millington of Cooper City, FL, Kristine Whitfield of Austin, TX, Christopher Collins
of Tulsa, OK, and Clayton Collins of Stillwater, OK; and six great-grandchildren,
Sarah and Julia Snook, Megan and Curtis McMahan, and Molly and Patrick
Millington.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Dec. 1, 2008, at 2 p.m. at Helena United
Methodist Church in Helena with Adeline’s granddaughter, The Rev. Susan
Snook officiating.  Burial will follow at Good Hope Cemetery outside Helena with
arrangements by Lanman Funeral Home, Inc. of Helena.  Online condolences may
be shared with the family at www.lanmanmemorials.com. .  Viewing will be
Sunday from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. with the family being present from 2:00 P.M.
until 4:00 P.M.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Helena United Methodist Church or
