Comments = Girls and Boyde Jack.  So sorry Tom is gone.  We will miss him at our Tuxhorn Family
reunions, but we know there were lots of Tuxhorn/Highfill family to welcome him.  Dad and Grandpa
Dague would have loved the part written about "He could take the heart out of a baler and repair it like
a surgeon repairs a human heart."
My memory as a kid was looking up at that big ole tall guy with all the blonde hair.  Sorry I was unable
to be with you at the service.  Love to all, Bev

Cherokee-Tommy Joe Highfill of Cherokee passed away on Wednesday, October
22, 2008 at Deaconess Hospital in Oklahoma City.  He was born on September 20,
1939 to Jack Highfill and Lorene Tuxhorn Highfill in Cherokee.  He graduated from
Cherokee High School in 1957.  Tom was self employed as a custom hay baler and
mechanic. He could take the heart out of a baler and repair it like a surgeon
repairs a human heart.  Tom served in the U.S. Army from 1962-1963 and won
several awards for his marksmanship.   He was loved by many, many people and
did many behind the scenes “acts of kindness.”  Tom raised his grandchildren,
Nick and Deme.  They were the apple of his eye and were the motivation that kept
him going.

Tom is survived by a son, Brian; a daughter, Becky; two grandchildren, Nick and
Deme; one brother, Boyde; four sisters, Meron Gipson, Vickey Marsh, Jenny
Newell and Bobbie Jewell.

He was preceded by his parents, Jack and Lorene; two brothers, Al and Toby.

memorial book will be available to sign on Friday from 9:00 A.M. until 5:00 P.M. at
