Memorial Name = Ella Lanman
Comments = Ella indeed was a caring and gentle lady.  I know she appreciated the loving care you
gave her during her final years, Janet.  My sympathy to all of the family.  Some of my fondest high
school memories were of spending time with the Lanman family, both in their home in Hudson and
on the road to games, as well as one summer week in Oklahoma.  If you have an opportunity, Janet,
please contact me.  I would love to hear from you.

Ella (Bruner) Lanman, beloved of many, passed away on October 13, 2008 in
Palmer, Alaska.

Ella Blanche Bruner was born on April 26, 1916 to Wilbert D. and Ann E. Bruner
on their farm near Dacoma, Oklahoma.  She was the ninth of ten children.  She
attended school in both Dacoma and Alva, Oklahoma and upon graduation from
high school went to Anderson, Indiana to attend college.  Her stay there was
short.  Silbert Lanman had written that he had been taking female teachers to
teacher’s meetings and Ella came home to “protect her interests”.  They were
married on July 3, 1937.  They spent the next several years moving from
Homestead to Freedom to Clinton back to Dacoma and finally to Capron,
Oklahoma where they lived for the next 17 years. During this time, Ella finished
her college degree and taught everything from kindergarten to business
education.  She also had time to squeeze in the births of five children.  The
Lanmans sojourned to Kansas.  While there, Ella finished a degree in library
science.  After teaching school in both Hudson and Fowler, Ella and Silbert
moved to Houston, Texas to work at Gulf Coast Bible College in 1972.  Ella spent
many happy hours working alongside dear friend Ruth Kirks in the library.  The
Lanmans retired to Alva, Oklahoma in 1981.  Ella and Silbert celebrated their 50th
Anniversary in June of 1987.  Silbert passed away six months later. Ella lived in
Hutchinson, Kansas with her sister, Irma Schrader for a number of years and. in
2001, she moved to Alaska to live with daughter, Janet.

Ella is renowned for her gentle, loving, kindness.  She will be remembered by
her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren who love and cherish her
memory and also by adoring nieces, nephews, friends of her children (some of
whom thought of her as a second mother), friends and family.

Ann Copeland, grandson Kevin Jack Coffey, and great-grandson Brian Wayne
Coffey.

She is survived by daughters Charlotte Teichmann and husband Galen of Great
Bend Kansas, Janet Lanman of Palmer, Alaska, Gael Irvine and husband Joe of
