| Newlin will be Friday, August 15, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. at Lanman Chapel in Cherokee with Rev. Carolyn Murrow officiating. Burial will follow at Cherokee Municipal Cemetery with arrangements by Lanman Funeral Home, Inc. of Cherokee. Viewing will be Thursday from 10:00 A.M. until 7:00 P.M. and Friday from 9:00 A.M. until service time. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www. lanmanmemorials.com. Glenda Gindlesberger Newlin was born on Nov. 13, 1927 at Cherokee, Oklahoma, the daughter of Marvin Gindlesberger and Margie Orton Gindlesberger and passed from this life on August 12, 2008 in Houston, Missouri. She attended school at Cherokee. Glenda and Edd Newlin were married on Nov. 16, 1945 and remained devoted to each other for fifty-three years until Edd’s death in 1999. Glenda lived in Cherokee until 2001, at which time she moved to Houston, Missouri where she resided until her death. She was a member of Prairie Valley Methodist Church, Prairie Valley Ladies Aide Group, The Good Cheer Home Extension Club, and the U.S.S. Ticonderoga Association. She also delivered mobile meals and served on the Alfalfa County Election Board. Glenda’s life projects and joy remained focused on her husband, children, grand children, and church family (and her blue ribbon apple crumb pie). Glenda is survived by three children, Lea Ann and Pete Stein of Houston, Missouri, Sheryl Newlin and Cheryl Hardman of Newton, Kansas, Gerald Newlin and Barbara of Moore, Oklahoma, and dear family friend, Lowell Wallace; her three sisters, Wanda Bewley of Edmond, Oklahoma, Marva Anderson of Sebring, Florida, and Rosie White of Cherokee, Oklahoma; six grandchildren, Peter, Jason, Micheal, Aaron, Jeremy, and Katherine; four great grandchildren, Hayden, Maren, and Dylen Stein, and Jessica LaPradd. Memorials may be given to the Prairie Valley United Methodist Church through the funeral home. |
