| KIOWA-Marvin Levi Ott was born on October 17, 1924 to Sam and Lydia Schif Ott near Burlington, Oklahoma, the youngest of eight children. He attended Burlington Public Schools. After graduation he attended Oklahoma A&M for a short time before enlisting in the U.S. Army where he served in Japan. On August 19, 1947 he married Irma Schrock. At the age of 29 he became a Christian and a member of the Apostolic Christian Church. On October 11, 1985, his wife, Irma, preceded him in death. Marvin was a farmer, stockman, bank president, and a livestock show and sports enthusiast. He also served on many community boards. He was a longtime 4-H leader and coach of successful livestock judging teams. He truly enjoyed watching and supporting his grandchildren in their various activities. Jay Ott; five sisters, Mabel Ott, Laverne Roth, Minnie Farney, Julia Hobbs, Erma Woods; one brother, Arnold Ott. Marvin is survived by one daughter; Marlene and Keith Kisling of Burlington, Ok., four sons; Brad and Deb of Fairview, Ok., Doug and Pam of Coffeyville, Ks., Jon and Konnie of Hazelton, Ks., and Alan of Washington, DC, nine grandchildren; Brent Kisling, Chad Kisling, Kim Smith, Robyn Baker, Cody Ott, Summer Dierks, Boone Ott, Luke Ott, Stewart Ott, three great grandchildren; Layne and Bree Kisling, Maverick Smith, one sister; Esther Hood of Kiowa, two sisters-in-law; Nelda Ott of Alva and Maxine Schrock of Kiowa, many nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to the Kiowa Manor or the Kiowa District Hospital through the funeral home. Visitation will be Sunday, September 14, 2008 from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. with the family present to receive friends from 5-6p.m. Funeral service will be Monday, September 15, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at the Apostolic Christian Church in Kiowa with Ron Allenbach and John Lehman officiating. Burial will follow in the Riverview Cemetery. Arrangements are by Lanman Funeral Home, Inc. of Kiowa, Kansas. |
