Service will be held on Friday, February 15, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. at Lanman Funeral
Home Chapel in Cherokee for Albert Lee Stanley, age 75.  Jim LeForce will
officiate.  Following cremation a private burial service will be held at a later date.   
Arrangements are by Lanman Funeral Home, Inc. of Cherokee.  

Al was born on May 22, 1932 west of Jet to William H. Stanley Sr. and Frances L.
Nelson Stanley.  He graduated from Jet High School in 1950.  He married Zola M.
Castle in June of 1952.  They moved to the Los Angeles area, and he was employed
by Douglass Aircraft until 1958.  Around 1960 they opened the A-Z Corral Café north
of Jet.  Al also custom harvested, farmed and ranched for many years.  

Al had a special talent for making or fixing anything.  He loved to work on antique
cars.  In 1983 he and his son, Charlie drove in the first ‘Great American Race” from
Anaheim, California to Indianapolis, Indiana in a 1923 Maxwell that the two of them
had restored.  In November 2005 Al and Ella Mae Dale were married and they made
their home in Jet.  He died at their home in Jet on February 11, 2008 with Ella Mae
at his side.


Al is survived by his wife, Ella Mae of the home; children, Lindeen Evans of Jet,
Charlie Stanley of Enid; Randy Dale and wife, Missy of Albuquerque, New Mexico;
Nancy LeForce and husband, Jim of Nash; Jamie Sue Morris and husband, Al of
Dodge City, Kansas; eighteen grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; two
brothers, W. H. Stanley Jr. and wife, Bonnie of Jet and Jerry Stanley of Manhattan,
Kansas; one sister, Lilybel Gates and husband, Lyman of Houston, Texas and many
nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, John Gilbert and one
sister, Billie Jean.

Memorials may be made to Jet Fire Department or Timberlake Swimming Pool
through the funeral home.
