Goltry-Funeral service for James “Jim” Ward Powers, age 66, will be Thursday, April 24, 2008 at
2:00 P.M. at the Community Bible Church in Goltry with Rev. Brian Baldwin, Rev. Thurman
Sparks officiating.   Burial will follow at Karoma Cemetery with arrangements by Lanman Funeral
Home, Inc. of Helena.  Viewing will be Tuesday and Wednesday from 10:00 A.M. until 6:00 at the
funeral home and after the service at the church.  

Jim was born on November 6, 1941 to Melvin Ward Powers and Helen Louise Zin Powers in
Toledo, Ohio and passed from this life on April 21, 2008 at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center in
Enid.  Jim moved to Helena when he was two years old and lived in the Helena – Goltry area the rest
of his life. On November 7, 1986 he married Betty Teeters in Enid.   He was a member of the
Community Bible Church in Goltry.  Jim drove a truck for a number of years for AMPI and was an
AA counselor.  Jim was former mayor and on the City Board of Trustees in Goltry.  He also farmed
and raised sheep and cattle.  

Survivors include his wife, Betty of Goltry; one daughter, Laura Lormand and husband, Kirt of
Goltry; three step children, Belinda Boston of Wichita, Daniel Harris of Enid and John “Jackie”
Harris of Fredericksburg, Virginia; two brothers, Danny J. Powers of Florida and Richard Powers of
Douglas; one sister, Kathy Adams of South Carolina; seven grandchildren, Christopher Powers,
Jordan Campbell, Sage Powers, Colten Lormand, Thomas, Sarah and Rebecca Boston; three great
grandchildren, Cassidy Powers, Coletone Powers and Skylar Campbell.  

Those preceding Jim in death include his parents; two sons, Monte and Matthew Powers; one infant
grandson and one brother, Jerry.

Memorials may be given to Clearview Youth Camp north of Drummond or the Goltry City Park
through the funeral home.
