He passed from this life in Enid on Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at the age of 75. As a young man, Roy graduated from Ringwood High School. For a while he worked at the Boys School in Helena. He later went to work in the oilfield where he worked for many years. Roy farmed and ran cattle all his life. When he quit the oilfield, he became a full time cattleman. Every Thursday Roy could be found sitting in the sale barn at Fairview. He enjoyed buying and running cattle on wheat. Roy never bragged about his family, but he was very proud of his sons, Andy, Mark, David and daughter, Deb. He and his wife, Coeta, introduced the sport of rodeo to their children and it turned into a family affair that lasted a lifetime. Roy was preceded in death by his wife, Coeta Roberts Adkisson, his parents and an infant daughter. Roy is survived by his children and their spouses, Andy and Carla Adkisson of Rhame, North Dakota, Mark and Darla Adkisson of Ringwood, David and Denise Adkisson of Watonga and Debra Craig of Watonga; one brother, Lewis Adkisson of Ringwood; two sisters, Reba Thompson of Novato, California and Dottie Clough of Yukon. Roy was grandpa to A.J. Adkisson, Cody Newman, Adrian Ryel, Dusti Brodrick, Desi Adkisson and Ami Adkisson. He was proud great-grandpa to Jase and Jaden Adkisson and Macy, Neely and Tanner Newman. Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Hospice Circle of Love. |
