| Cherokee – Graveside service for Juanita Faye Allison will be Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at Cherokee Municipal Cemetery with Dr. Ron Hansen and Rev. Tom Cooksey officiating. Arrangements are by Lanman Funeral Home, Inc. of Cherokee. Casket will be open at the funeral home on Monday from 3:00 until 6:00 P.M. and on Tuesday from 9:00 A.M. until 8:00 P.M. with family present to receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Memories may be shared with the family at www.lanmanmemorials.com. She was born Juanita Faye Steen on July 14, 1930 in Warner, Oklahoma, the daughter of Jim and Virgie Henshaw Steen and departed this life on November 22, 2009. She and Sonny Allison were married on July 14, 1948 in Tulsa where they lived for eleven years. They then moved to Checotah where she worked at People’s National Bank. In December 1974, she and Sonny moved to Cherokee where she owned and operated The Fashion Cottage until her retirement in the spring of 2007. Juanita and Sonny played cards on a continual basis with their friends. She loved to visit when people came by to see them. Juanita was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her mother and father. Survivors include her husband, Sonny of Cherokee; one daughter, Terri Woods and husband, David of Cherokee; one son, Chris Allison and wife, Carolyn of Muldrow; one sister, Joan Williams of Muskogee; two grandsons, Chad Woods of Emporia, Kansas and Jerad Woods and wife, Anna of Hillsboro, Kansas; two granddaughters, Christy and Candice Allison of Muldrow; one great granddaughter, Leah Woods of Hillsboro, Kansas. Memorials may be made to Alfalfa County Ambulance or the women’s kitchen ministry at First Christian Church through the funeral home. |
