memories of her from Bible school days at FBC when we were young kids to the countless hours we
spent together at livestock shows.(Those were the days!)I know she had not been well for quite a
while and trust that she is far better off now than words can describe.Please know that we are praying

Cherokee-Funeral service for Edith Lois Burleson, 65, will be Wednesday,
November 18, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. at First Baptist Church in Cherokee with Rev.
Tom Cooksey officiating.   Burial will follow at Cherokee Municipal Cemetery with
arrangements by Lanman Funeral Home, Inc, of Cherokee.  Viewing will be
Monday 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. and Tuesday 10:00 A.M. until 6:00 P.M.

Edith was born on February 23, 1944 in Oklahoma City to Jacob Weigand and
Edna Louthan Weigand and passed from this life on November 13, 2009 at her
home in Cherokee.   She graduated from Lambert High School and attended two
years at Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva.  On February 8, 1963
she married Warren Burleson in Cherokee.  She lived in Byron a short while
before moving to Cherokee.  She was a member of First Baptist Church, where
she played the piano, taught preschool, Bible School and Sunday School.    Edith
was a homemaker and a current member of the Farmerettes.  

Edith is survived by her husband, Warren; one daughter, Gina Pekrul and
husband, Cam of Goltry;  one son, Derick Burleson of Fairbanks, Alaska; three
grandchildren, Jennifer Pekrul, Jacob Pekrul and Mirabel Burleson and one
brother, Alvin Weigand

She is preceded in death by her mother, Edna Weigand; her father, Jacob
Weigand and one nephew.

Memorials may be given to Hospice Circle of Love or Oklahoma Medical
Research Foundation – Lung Division through the funeral home.
