Comments = I know Aunt Madeline is at peace now and in heaven with my Mom & Dad now.  I loved

nursing home. I met Madeline when we moved in next door to her in 77. I loved to visit with her and
enjoyed hearing her and Everett sing together. She was a sweet lady.

Helena-Madeline D. Galer, 95, was born in Carmen on April 7, 1913 and went to
meet her Lord on February 14, 2009 at her home in Helena.  She was born to
John and Florence Deavers Lakey.  She attended Carmen Schools, graduating in
1930.  She married Everett Galer on November 23, 1933: they celebrated their
70th anniversary in 2003.   They made their home in Carmen, later moving to
Helena.  She lived in Helena for the next 70 years.  She was a homemaker and
worked at Summers Drug Store.  Madeline and Everett operated the Galer
Hatchery and Produce for fifteen years.  She later worked at the Helena Training
School for boys for ten years.  She was a member of the Nazarene Church of
Helena and was a Sunday School teacher for many years.  Madeline enjoyed
singing in various groups and quartets.  She and Everett sang at several
funerals in the area.  Madeline was an active member of the WCTU, holding
several offices.  Madeline enjoyed gardening and sewing.

She is survived by one daughter, Wilma Miller and husband, Russell of
Bartlesville; one son, Wayne and wife, Fran of Enid; five grandchildren and
eleven great grandchildren.

Madeline was preceded in death by her husband, Everett; her parents, two
sisters and one brother.

Services will be at the Helena Nazarene Church on Wednesday, February 18,
2009 at 10:00 A.M. with Pastor Dean Holt officiating.  Burial will follow at Good
Hope Cemetery under the direction of Lanman Funeral Home, Inc. of Helena.    
Viewing will be Tuesday from 9:00 A.M. until 8:00 P.M. with the family present
from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.  Memories may be shared with
the family at www.lanmanmemorials.com.  

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Helena Nazarene Church
through the funeral home.
