| KIOWA-Albert Harold Harbaugh, 83, passed away on Monday, January 26, 2009 at Anthony Medical Center. Funeral service will be on Friday, January 30, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Kiowa with Pastor Wayne Stephens officiating. Burial will follow in the Riverview Cemetery. Arrangements are by Lanman Funeral Home, Inc. of Kiowa, Kansas. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.lanmanmemorials.com Albert was born to Ulrich Harbaugh and Mabel Hensley Harbaugh on June 27, 1925 at Gerlane, Kansas in Barber County. He attended the Gerlane country school to the eighth grade and graduated from Medicine Lodge High School. On September 9, 1948 he and Helen Tidwell were united in marriage at Marion, Kansas. He was a member of the Methodist Church of Gerlane, a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, he belonged to the Angus Association and loved to go to the Angus sales, he served on the Barber County Rural Fire Department, served on the Nippawalla Township, he received the Distinguished Service Award for 10 years outstanding service as school board member in Barber County. He served in the United States Navy in WWII. He was preceded in death by his parents; one granddaughter, Christina Harbaugh; one brother, Jim Harbaugh; one sister, Betty Garten and husband, Bill; one brother-in-law, Bob Watts; two half sisters, Ruth Chapin and Faye Gilmore; one sister-in-law, Barbara Harbaugh; two half brothers-in-law, Luke Chapin and Les Gilmore. He is survived by his wife, Helen of Kiowa; three children; Paul Harbaugh and wife, Yvonne, Marsha Stranathan and husband, Dr. Sid, Kent Harbaugh all of Kiowa; eight grandchildren, Janell Goodno and husband, Justin, Crystal Alexander and husband, Darin, Erica Hutson and husband, Tommie, Sarah Harbaugh, Emily Coffin and husband, Josh, Ben Harbaugh, Kyle Stranathan, Abby Stranathan; five great-grandchildren, Colby and Ciera Houlton, Baylon and Heston Alexander, Morgan Mader; one sister, Mollie Watts of Hardtner; one brother Jacob Harbaugh of Sharon; one sister-in-law, Beulah Harbaugh of Medicine Lodge, many nieces and nephews. The casket will be open on Wednesday, January 28, 2009 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Thursday, January 29, 2009 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the funeral home and at the church before the service. |
