Art worked with Leonard Koehn & our family to build Mom & Dad's (Paul & Christine Eck)new farm home in the mid-1970s. Though they are both gone now, they enjoyed living there over 25 years. We have fond memories of working with Art. Gary & Terry Eck (Sons of Paul & Christine) |

Memories may be shared with the family at www.lanmanmemorials.com. Arthur Vernon Johnson was born on March 19, 1923 near Meno, Oklahoma to Benjamin and Gertrude (Penner) Johnson. He died on May 13, 2009 at the age of 86. He grew up on the family farm and lived there the majority of his life. He graduated from Lahoma High School in 1940. Art served two years in CPS (Civilian Public Service). Following his service years, he married Clarine Waneta Buller on May 24, 1944. During the first two years of their marriage, Art worked for Ford Motor Company in Enid rebuilding engines. He then moved to the family farm to continue his Dad’s farming operation. Farming included grain crops, raising farm animals, and running a dairy, which he continued until retirement in 1996. In addition to farming, Art was an accomplished carpenter and he, along with his brother-in-law, Leonard Koehn, built 34 new homes in the Meno and surrounding area. Art was a lifelong member of the New Hopedale Mennonite Church and he and his Dad, Benjamin, were heavily involved in the construction of the building we are in today. Art was active in the church and served as Missionary Treasurer for many years. He was also an insurance adjustor for Mennonite Mutual Aid. Art leaves to treasure his memory his wife, Clarine of 64 years; three sons, Stanley and his wife, Patricia of Enid, Myron and his wife, Marcia of Miami, Oklahoma, Daryl and his wife, Pamela of Tulsa; his sister, Frieda Eck of Newton, Kansas; his brother-in-law, Wesley Eilers of Hesston, Kansas; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
