| CAPRON-Oneta Kimbrel, passed away on March 10, 2009 in Wichita. Funeral service will be 2:00pm, Friday, March 13, 2009 at the Capron United Methodist Church with Pastor Elizabeth Kirkwood officiating. Burial will follow in the Capron Cemetery. Arrangements are by Lanman Funeral Home, Inc. of Kiowa, Kansas. Condolence may be shared with the family at www.lanmanmemorials.com Oneta was born one of twins on May 19, 1922 to George and Nellie Gray on a farm near Capron, Oklahoma. She attended a country school, then to the Capron School systems in the 7th grade, graduating from high school in 1941. On July 30, 1941 she married Melvin Kimbrel, living in the Capron area until November 1947 when they moved to Siloam Spring, Arkansas. They ran an ice route until rural electric moved into the area. They then moved to Trona, California where Melvin worked for American Potash and Chemical Corp. Neta did taxes for the workers. She joined the Valley Bible Church where she was an organist and pianist. They moved back to the Capron area, moving on the Kimbrel farm in 1962. She helped her husband do the farming and worked for Jennys drapery, and at the Tucker Industries in Kiowa until she retired. She belonged to the Capron United Methodist Church and a member of the South Barber Ministerial Alliance. She liked to travel and after her twin sisters husband passed away they attended the International Twins Association Conventions, traveling from east to west, north to south to attend these conventions. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1994. She is survived by two sisters, Orieta (Reta) Jackson of Alva, Nellie O. Hill of Adrian, Missouri; three brothers, Orland Gray of Hanson, Kentucky, Oneal Gray and wife, Joy of Medford, Oklahoma, Olen Gray and wife, Joy of Capron, Oklahoma, 18 nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to the Capron United Methodist Church or the Capron Cemetery through the funeral home. Visitation will be Thursday, March 12, 2009 from 10 am to 7 pm. |
