| Burlington-Funeral service for Frank Kisling, 89, will be Friday, August 14, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at the Apostolic Christian Church in Kiowa with Ron Allenbach and Jeff Bahr officiating. Burial will follow in the Apostolic Christian Cemetery at Burlington, Oklahoma. Arrangements are by Lanman Funeral Home, Inc. of Kiowa, Kansas. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.lanmanmemorials.com Frank was born on May 4, 1920 in rural Burlington, Oklahoma to M.A. and Anna Diel Kisling and went to be with his Lord and Savior on August 11, 2009 at the Kiowa District Hospital. Frank attended the Burlington Public School. After high school graduation he helped his brother George farm in Hazelton until he was inducted into the US Army in April 1942. He was stationed in Roswell, New Mexico as a Link trainer and was honorably discharged in December 1945. On June 27, 1943 he and Annabelle Bower were united in marriage. After serving in the armed forces he came back to the family farm where he farmed until his retirement. He was baptized and became a member of the Apostolic Christian Church. He served on the Woods County Water Board, the ABBD Senior Citizens board and the church cemetery board. He was caretaker of the church cemetery for many years. He was truly the cornerstone of his family and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, George, Elmer, Ralph, infant John; five sisters, Marie Schurter, Ruth Schurter, Edna Reed, Mabel Bangeter and Ada Goeken. He is survived by wife, Annabelle; two sons, Keith and wife, Marlene, Kent and wife, Darcy all of Burlington; six grandchildren, Brent Kisling,Chad Kisling, Kim Smith, Jenny Stewart, John Schupbach, Matt Schupbach; thirteen great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Irene Kisling. Memorials may be made to the Apostolic Cemetery through the funeral home. Visitation will be Thursday, August 13, 2009 from 10:00 .m. to 7:00 p.m. with the family present from 5-7 to receive friends. |
