| Okeene-Funeral service for Jay Lee Laubach will be Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. at Okeene Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Monte Michaelson officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery east of Okeene with arrangements by Lanman Funeral Home, Inc. of Okeene. The casket will be open m. until 12:00 noon. Casket will also be open after the service at the church on Wednesday. Memories may be shared with the family at www.lanmanmemorials. com. Jay Lee was born in Okeene on October 20, 1937 and departed this life on December 20, 2009 in Oklahoma City. He was the son of Ervin and Edvina Greb Laubach and had lived his lifetime in the Okeene area. After graduating from Okeene High School, he attended Business College for two years. Jay Lee and Judy Howerton were married Aug 28, 1959 in the Zion Baptist Church in Okeene, the church in which Jay Lee grew up, and they had recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. A man with a wonderful sense of humor, Jay Lee was a carpenter by trade and loved sharing these skills with the grandchildren by having them in his shop and teaching them carpentry. He also shared his talents by making pinewood derby cars, attending and helping with the races. Another big thing with him was gardening with his wife and grandkids. Jay Lee was very active in community affairs and in the Chamber of Commerce where he did his part with organizing and fundraising for the 4th of July celebration and fireworks and the Christmas drawing. He had also helped found the Donnie Rauh Memorial Fireman’ s Foundation. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ervin and Edvina Laubach, his brother, Arnold Laubach, brother-in-law, Donnie Rauh, and sister-in-law, Rosalie Howerton. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Judy Laubach of Okeene; his two children, Lee Laubach and wife, Jana of Okeene and Jana Johannesmeyer and husband, Tommy of Okeene; eight grandchildren, Ryan Johannesmeyer and wife, Taryn of Alva, Derek Johannesmeyer of Okeene, Alec Johannesmeyer of Okeene, Brook French and husband, Tyler of Crescent, Jessica Briggs of Lindsborg, Kansas, Michael Day of Okeene. The first great-grandchild is to be born in April. Also surviving are one brother, Gary Laubach and wife, Margie of Okeene; one sister, Nada Hokit and husband, Ron of Duncan; one brother-in-law, Paul Howerton and wife, Frances of Longdale; one sister-in-law, Betty Laubach of Canton. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Okeene Municipal Hospital Foundation. |
