| Kiowa – Miller, Verda L (Liggenstoffer), 90, passed away November 18, 2009. Born on April 24, 1919 in Barber County, Kansas she was the daughter of Henry J. and E. Mae Alberding Liggenstoffer. She attended Friendship School in Alfalfa County, Oklahoma until 9th grade when she attended Kiowa High School. She was married to James E. Miller on August 31, 1940 and lived her life in the Kiowa area as well as a few years in Burlington, Oklahoma and Wichita, Kansas. Verda worked most of her adult life at Mabel’s Café, Kiowa Sales Co., Brattin’s Sweet Shop, Humphrey Implement, Kiowa IGA as well as custodian for the United Methodist Church from the 50’s thru the 70’s and took great pride in her work. Family was most important to her as she enjoyed visits from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents, husband; brothers, Homer, Lloyd (Bud), Richard; sisters, Goldie Jefferies, Betty Kimmell and Frances (Panny) Schupbach. Surviving are daughters, Sharen and Dale Jahnke of Tampa Florida, Patsy Wilson, and Peggy and Jerry Mason all of Kiowa; grandchildren, Mike and Cindy Cook of Palm City, Florida, Chad Cook of Tampa Florida, Raquel and Johnny Velasquez of Kiowa, Jenni White of Wilson, Oklahoma, Jody and Michael Hart of Enid, Oklahoma, Todd and Audra Mason of Ponca City, Oklahoma; great grandchildren, Shaun and Dani Cook, Alyssa and Kaleigh Velasquez, Kadan and Kyler White, Taylor and Cole Mason, and Megan and Bryson Hart. At her request, we honor her with Graveside Service for friends and family at Riverview Cemetery on Saturday, November 21, 2009 at 2:00.
