| Cleo Springs-Funeral service for Jennie Lynn Newton, 78, will be Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at the Christian Church in Cleo Springs with Rev. Roy Wahlgren officiating. Burial will be at Cleo Springs Cemetery with arrangements by Lanman Funeral Home, Inc. of Helena. Viewing will be Monday 1:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. and Tuesday 10:00 A.M. until 7:00 P.M. Jennie was born on September 14, 1931 to Drew Cross and Gladys Hollingsworth Cross in Dallas Texas and passed from this life on October 24, 2009 in Enid. Jennie married C.A. Newton on July 27, 1950 in Dallas, Texas. They moved to this area in 1968. Jennie was Judge of the Cleo Springs Election Board, a board member of the Cleo Springs Senior Citizens Center and secretary/treasurer of her Sunday School Class at First Christian Church in Cleo Springs, where she was a member. Jennie was preceded in death by her mother, Gladys Cross; her father, Drew Cross; her husband, “C.A.” Carl Austin Newton, Sr. and one grandson, Braden Chance Newton. Those left to cherish Jennie’s memory include one daughter, Carla Newton of Oklahoma City; two sons, Carl Newton, Jr. and Blake Newton both of Cleo Springs; eight grandchildren; four great grandchildren. Memorials may be given to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation through the funeral home. |
