| Loving Mother and Grandmother Hulda Pope of Okeene passed away peacefully into the arms of her Lord on January 5, 2009 in the Kingfisher Hospital. Hulda was born on March 1, 1913 in Isabella to Jacob and Molly Bierig. Hulda married Mr. Sylvester Ivan Pope in 1930. They lived and raised their family southeast of Okeene. Hulda was a loving mother to three sons, Douglas, Jay and Richard. She was a devoted and caring grandmother to eight grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Sylvester in June of 1986 and her son, Douglas Pope of Wilmington, Delaware in 1975. Hulda is survived by her daughter-in-law, Frances Pope of Wilmington, Delaware and two granddaughters, Sharon Jones and Carol Ann Gripp also from Delaware. She is also survived by her son, Jay W. Pope of Okeene and his four children, Dr. Wesley E. Pope of Oklahoma City, Cara Lynn Starkweather of Murietta, California, Brenda Geis of Loyal and Angela Pacheco of Lake Forest, California. She is also survived by her youngest son, Richard Pope and his wife, Susie from Tyler, Texas and their two daughters, Pamela Ferreiro and Kimberly Hamilton of Dallas, Texas. Hulda was a wonderful homemaker. Her most treasured times were when all the family would come together for summer vacation in Oklahoma. We all have so many fond and loving memories. These memories will be cherished in our hearts along with our strong Christian Heritage. She will be deeply missed. Funeral service will be held at the Loyal United Methodist Church at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, January 10, 2009 with Rev. Bob Jones and Rev. Bob Barr officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Cemetery with arrangements by Lanman Funeral Home, Inc. of Okeene. Viewing will be Friday from 10:00 A.M. until 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to Okeene Hospital Foundation through the funeral home. |
