| was born on April 14, 1915 to John Schmidt and Lena Base Schmidt on a farm near Goltry. Ervin accepted the Lord as a young man, was baptized and joined the Zoar Mennonite Church in Goltry, where he continued his membership. He graduated from Goltry High School and attended Oklahoma Bible Academy for a Bible course. Ervin farmed most of his life until 1985. He and Mildred moved into Goltry in 1977. He served on Goltry Farmers Exchange Board, the Church Board and the OBA Board for many years. He also served as a Sunday School Teacher until shortly before his death. He loved to sing. He sang solos and in many quartets and choirs, singing at many funerals. Ervin is survived by his wife, Mildred of Goltry; two daughters, Darlene Koehn and husband, Ron of Enid and Delores Rosfeld and husband, Mel of Peabody, Kansas; one son, Kenneth Schmidt of Kansas City, Missouri; four grandchildren, Kevin Friesen and wife, Brenda, Kurt Friesen and wife, Kristi, Scott Rosfeld and wife, Amy and Julie O’Conner and husband, Brent; nine great grandchildren and two sisters, Celesta Thomas of Enid and Elfrieda Jones of Lincoln, Nebraska. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Malinda Johnson, Matilda Epp and Elvera Ratzlaff and one granddaughter, Jenny Sue Rosfeld. |
