| 21, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at the Okeene Mennonite Brethren Church. The Rev. Bennet Peters will officiate. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery. Arrangements are by Lanman Funeral Home Inc., Okeene. Viewing will be Sunday at the funeral home from 1:30 P.M. until 5:00 P.M. and before the service at the church. Memories may be shared with the family at www.lanmanmemorials.com. Oteka Louise Peters was born November 1, 1923 in Oklahoma City to C.C. Peters and Minnie Scheffler Peters and passed from this life on December 18, 2009 at the Summit Living Center in Okeene. She lived most of her life in the Okeene area. After she and Roy Westfahl were married on October 24, 1944 in Enid, Oklahoma, they were partners in farming. She milked cows, worked in the field, did anything else necessary to complete the farm work. She taught school and coached girls and boys basketball at Homestead and also coached at Isabella. Roy and Oteka lived two years in San Diego, California while Roy was in the U.S. Navy. He was stationed at Treasure Island and Oteka worked for the Army Dept. in munitions. Oteka was a member of the Okeene Mennonite Brethren Church. Surviving are her husband, Roy of Okeene; two sons, Ralph and Melinda Westfahl of Ringwood and Byron and Michele Westfahl of Mustang; five grandsons, Christopher, Shawn, Erick, Chad and Beau; two great-grandchildren, Sabine and Collin. She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother. Memorials may be made to the MCC (Mennonite Central Committee) through the funeral home. |
