| Robert Joe (Bob) Lindley went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 24 at his home in Wamego, KS. Bob was born December 22, 1930 in Alva, OK to Buford R and Pauline Bales Lindley. Bob graduated high school in Pasadena, CA in 1949 but before graduation enlisted in the US Navy Reserves. He transferred into the US Air Force in 1950 and served as a jet engine mechanic until his discharge in 1954. He and Gail Benfield were married in 1954 in Wittier, CA. In 1956 they moved to the Kiowa, KS and Burlington, OK area where they farmed and raised their family of four children. Bob was baptized in 1962 and the family attended the Riverside Church of Christ of Burlington until moving to Wamego, KS in 2004 where they placed membership in the Manhattan Church of Christ. He and Gail were active 4-H and FFA parents and he was elected to serve as an honorary chapter farmer of the Burlington FFA. He was a long-time member of the ABBD Rural Water Board and the Burlington Lions Club. He enjoyed carpentry, wood-working and photography both as a hobby and professionally. Bob enjoyed listening to jazz and big band music. Fishing and camping were favorite vacation past-times. Bob was preceded in death by his parents Buford and Marie Lindley and Pauline and Harry Crouch. He is survived by his wife of almost 56 years, Gail and children Donna (Paris) and husband Wayne of Abilene, TX, Beverly (Blevins) and husband Jim of Fairview, OK, Brian Lindley and wife Jana of Wamego, KS, and Kay (Larson) and husband Morris of Farmington, MN as well as grandchildren Kristen Bomhoff and her husband Dan, of Okarche, OK and their children Sara, Connor, Rylie and Olivia, Cameron Blevins and his wife Malynda, of Weatherford, OK and soon to be born Declan, Joel Paris and his wife Kendra, of Dresden, Germany, Trevor and Matiel Lindley of Wamego, KS and Austin, Shelby and Chase Larson of Farmington, MN and brothers Verl Lindley of LaMirada, CA, and Bill Lindley of Apple Valley, CA and step sisters Barbara Clark of Hemet, CA and Jewel Bailey, also of CA as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at the Manhattan Church of Christ in Manhattan, KS at 7pm on August 25. Visitation will be held at the Lanman Funeral Home in Kiowa, Kansas from 6-8pm on August 26. Funeral services will be held on August 27 at the Riverside Church of Christ at 10am with interment immediately following at Riverview Cemetery in Kiowa, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the HIM Program through the Memorial Road Church of Christ to support the missionary efforts of Joel and Kendra Paris (grandson and wife) in Dresden, Germany, or to the Manhattan Church of Christ in Manhattan, Kansas.
