BURLINGTON-Jimmy “Jim” F. Ackerman passed away on Monday, February 6, 2012 in Wichita.  Funeral service will be Thursday, February 9, 2012 at the Burlington Christian Church at 11:00 a.m.  Burial will follow in the Apostolic Cemetery .

Jim was born at Cherokee, Oklahoma to Ben and Margaret Schurter Ackerman on July 28, 1934.  He was a graduate of Burlington High School.  On October 10, 1954 he and Marcelyn Diel were united in marriage. He worked at the Burlington Coop where he was the elevator manager for 45 years.  He was a member of the Burlington Christian Church.  Jim was an avid fisherman and hunter, he had a deep love for his dogs. He loved to read and was very proud of all his grandchildren.  Jim and Milferd Schupbach were the oldest residents born and raised in Burlington.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Marcelyn of Burlington; two children, Kathy and husband, Randy Lines of Lyons, Kansas, Brett Ackerman  and wife, Lisa of Burlington, Oklahoma; four grandchildren, Jami and husband, Rex Rogers of Loveland, Colorado, Angie Lines of Great Bend, Kansas, Jodi and husband, Tim Overman of Norman, Oklahoma, 1st Lt. Jared Ackerman serving in Afghanistan; one great grandchild, Nate Rogers of Loveland, Colorado, many cousins, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be Wednesday, February 8, 2012  from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Memorials may be made to the Burlington Christian Church or Burlington Fire Department  through the funeral home.
