Michael Thomas Koehler

Wakita-Funeral service for Michael Thomas Koehler, 50, will be Friday, February 10, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Assumption Catholic Church in Wakita with Father Lourdu Ponnapati officiating.  Burial will follow at Wakita Cemetery with arrangements by Lanman Funeral Home, Inc. of Medford.   Viewing will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday at the church.

Michael was born on December 18, 1961 in Woodward ­­­­­­­­­to Thomas Edwin Koehler and Virginia Elizabeth Yerian Koehler and passed from this life on February 6, 2012 at Wakita Community Health Center.   Michael lived his entire life in the Wakita area.  He graduated from Wakita High School.  After high school, he was a welder at WAKO in Enid.  Later he drove heavy equipment for Grant County.  Michael was a member of the St. Mary’s Assumption Catholic Church in Wakita.  He was a huge OU fan and enjoyed working on cars.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Those who survive Michael include his daughters, April Koehler of Wichita, Kansas, Autumn Koehler of Wichita, Kansas, step daughter, Amber Shafer of Wichita, Kansas; step son, Nick Shafer of Caldwell, Kansas; his mother, Virginia Koehler of Wakita; sister, Brenda Ball and husband, Jeff of Dawson, Illinois; half sisters, Sheila Green of Enid, Debbie Perry and husband, Bob of Waukomis and Janet Anderson of Enid; half brother, Tom Koehler, Jr. and wife, Becky of Enid and two grandchildren.

Memorials may be given to the Wakita Community Health Center through the funeral home.
