Vernelda Eileen Bahr lost her courageous battle with cancer on March 15, 2010 at
the age of 82 years, 5 months and 18 days in Conway Springs, Kansas at
Springview Manor.  Eileen was born on September 26, 1927 to Carl Edward and
Esther Emma Andree Sandstrom in Larned, Kansas.  Eileen had one brother,
Edward Eugene who was killed in the South Pacific in WWII.  Eileen is survived by
one sister, Charlotte Elizabeth Dowell and her husband, Murl Dowell of Henessey,
Oklahoma.

Eileen is a 1945 graduate of Amorita High School in Amorita, Oklahoma.  On
December 28, 1946 Eileen married Lester Marion Bahr of Gridley, Kansas.  Of this
union four children were born: Diana Jo, Carl Eugene, Frances Marian, and Elmer
Glenn.  Eileen spent her years as a homemaker.  In 1955 the family moved to
Corwin, Kansas.  In 1988, Eileen moved to Cherokee, Oklahoma.

Eileen is survived by her younger sister, Charlotte and her husband, Murl Dowell
and their two children and families:  three children:  Diana Jo Dressen of Ponca
City, Oklahoma,  Carl Bahr and wife, Sherry of Harper, Kansas, Frances Bruce and
husband, Dale of Cherokee, Oklahoma;  eight grandchildren: John Jenkinson and
one daughter of Carollton, Texas, Rustin Jenkinson and wife, Joy and their two
children of Portland, Oregon, Angela McDaniel and husband ,Kyle and one
daughter of Ponca City, Oklahoma, Carl Bahr Jr. and wife, LaTaunia of Las Vegas,
Nevada, Trisha Moritz and husband, Justin and their four children of Harper,
Kansas, Tamara Clark and husband, Ryan and their two children of Harper, Kansas,
Rachelle Pohlman and her three children and three step children of Wichita and
Peabody, Kansas, Billie Jo Hatfield and husband, Jye and two children of Sarina,
Queensland, Australia; three step-grandchildren and their families: Matt Dressen
of Aurora, Colorado, Andy Dressen  and two children of Ponca City, Oklahoma and
Amy Dressen of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania as well as extended family and friends.

Eileen was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Eugene; her husband,
Lester; her son, Elmer and her grandson, Joseph.

Services will be held Thursday, March 18, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. at Lanman Funeral
Home Chapel in Cherokee, Oklahoma with Rev. Ed Jones officiating.  Burial will be
at the Byron Amorita Cemetery in Amorita, Oklahoma.   After burial the family will be
at the Amorita Community Building for visitation.   Memorial contributions may be
made to Harry Hynes Hospice in Wichita, Kansas and The Gettin’ Place Ministries in
Cherokee, Oklahoma through the funeral home.  Memories may be shared with the

Wednesday from 10:00 A.M. until 6:00 P.M. and Thursday from 9:00 A.M. until
service time.
