| Kiowa,Kansas-Sally Forester, 76, of Kiowa, Kansas died Tuesday, July 6, 2010. Services will be at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, July 10, 2010 at Kiowa United Methodist Church. Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery, Kiowa, Kansas with arrangements by Lanman Funeral Home, Inc. of Kiowa, Kansas. Viewing will be Friday from 10:00 A. M. until 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home and before the service at the church. Memories may be shared at www.lanmanmemorials.com. Sally was born on September 3, 1933 to John R. and Martha E. Hoatson in Indianapolis, Indiana. She had an older sister, Dorothy “Dody” Neff and a twin sister, Susann “Suzi” Bower. She moved with her family to Raytown, Missouri when she was eight years old. She graduated from Raytown High School in 1951. She attended Cottey College in Nevada, Missouri and graduated from Kansas State University in 1955. She married Boyd Forester on September 23, 1955. To this union three children were born, Kim, John and Dan. Sally began teaching in Kiowa in 1964 and retired after 32 years of teaching kindergarten. Sally enjoyed painting, tending to her flower garden and loved watching her grandchildren play sports. She never met a dog she did not like. She was preceded in death by her mother, father and both sisters. Sally is survived by her husband, Boyd; daughter, Kim Nickelson and husband, Mark of Waynoka, Oklahoma; two sons, John Forester and wife, Linda of Hazelton, Kansas and Dan Forester of Dodge City, Kansas. Grandchildren include Alexa Humphries and husband, Brian of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Natalie Nickelson of Stillwater, Oklahoma, John Nickelson of Waynoka, Oklahoma, Joel Forester of Hazelton, Kansas, Chad Forester of Hazelton, Kansas and Christine Forester of Benton, Kansas. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Kansas Humane Society through the funeral home. |
