| MARY JANE GEITGEY, age 78, died at home after a long and very courageous battle with melanoma. “Jane” was born February 25, 1932 to Dewey and Violet Kerr and was the youngest of six children. She graduated from Jet High School and attended NWOSU. Jane married John Geitgey in 1954; together and side-by-side, they raised their family while farming around the Jet community their entire lives. Jane loved the small town of Jet, and the many friends she made during her life. Her interests were many including gardening, china painting, ceramics, bridge, pitch and sports of all kinds. Jane loved to laugh, especially with her best friend Josephine with whom she had grown up. She always looked forward to the holidays and summers that brought her siblings back to the family farm. Jane was also a member of the First United Methodist Church of Jet and the Jet Senior Citizens Center. She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Bill and George, and one sister, Shirley. Her husband John, daughters Debbie and Jonna, sister Bessie Mosely and brother J.D. Kerr survive her. Her eight grandchildren and great- grandchildren, Mandi, Lindsey, Nicole, Larsen, Maci, Parker, Hunter and Chandler, will sorely miss their “Grandma Jane”. The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Reitz and JoAnne of Cancer Care and Ross Hospice for their professionalism and compassion. Funeral Services will be held at the United Methodist Church in Jet at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 13, 2010 with Rev. Mary Irby officiating. Burial will follow at Timberlake Cemetery with Lanman Funeral Home, Inc. of Cherokee in charge of arrangements. Casket will be open at the funeral home in Cherokee on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. and after the service on Saturday.
