Marshaleen was born on March 4, 1962 at Wellington, Kansas to Harold Atkinson
and Janna Droegemeier Atkinson and passed from this life on June 1, 2010 at her
home in Jet.  She was raised in Wichita and graduated from West High School in
Wichita, Kansas in 1980.  Marshaleen crossed the path of Donald Radig twenty-
three years ago and the two became wonderful companions and best friends then
husband and wife. They lived on a ranch near Clearwater, Kansas where she
raised horses.  They came to Jet from Clearwater and lived in the original, oldest
still standing house in Jet. Their home still had slave tunnels leading to the road.
She was a true master seamstress, working for Aero Socks Company making aero
socks for airports.  Her aero socks were used all over the world.  She had many
hobbies, including cake decorating, fishing, gardening and especially raising
flowers. In addition, she had a true mechanical ability.  She also loved dogs and
horses.  Marshaleen loved her family, including her husband and children, to the
point of losing her life trying to save her grandson, Gabriel, from the fire. Don said,
“She was a true, wonderful companion and best friend in life”.

Survivors include her husband, Don of Jet; parents; Harold and Janna Atkinson of
Wichita, Kansas; one brother, Malcolm Atkinson of Wichita, Kansas;  one daughter,
Nicole Renee Paton Ferren and husband, Chris and daughter, Briley Ferren of El
Dorado, Kansas; one son, Austin Wayne Newman and wife, Audra and daughter,
Peyton Rae Newman of Moore; one nephew, Joseph Atkinson of Wichita, Kansas;
one step daughter, Betty Ann Luna of Wichita, Kansas;  two step grandchildren,

Marshaleen was preceded in death by her brother, Dallas and grandson, Gabriel
Luna.
