Ada Mott

July 30, 1923 — September 6, 2021

Enid, formerly Medford

Ada Mae Mott, aged 98, died September 6, 2021, where she resided at the Golden Oaks Retirement Village in Enid, Oklahoma. She was born in Pond Creek, Oklahoma as the only sister of five brothers. She was born on July 30, 1923 and completed high school in 1941. She met her future husband, Clyde Henry Mott of Medford, Oklahoma, while on a blind double date in 1943. They were married in 1945 until the time of his death in 2008. They had an enduring, close relationship that was admired by all who knew them. When Clyde was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 1983 and eventually had to be placed in a Veterans care home, she enthusiastically visited him weekly for the next 25 years. In their early life together, she assembled aircraft that was being commissioned to transport soldiers overseas for WWII, while Clyde was serving aboard the USS Nassau as a Navy Gunners Mate.

She delighted in caring for her home and community in enduring and small ways—taking casseroles to the sick and needy and having provided much care for her parents in their later years. She was humble, kind, and had a feisty streak which caused delight among the family. Further, she was always naturally elegant, the perpetual lady who enjoyed red and black clothing and simple jewelry. Her home was truly spotless, and she kept the family books for decades. Some of her biggest joys were making a basket of chicken and fixings for outings with her family while they fished as she watched from the bank. She was a member of the Medford United Methodist Church for 75 years.

They had one son, Dennis Wayne Mott, on August 31, 1946, who survives with his wife Sherri, along with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Grandson, Douglas Ian Mott, preceded her in death at the age of five after a chronic illness, while granddaughters, Corissa Weatherford of South Carolina and Ashley Reers of North Carolina survive, along with her great grandchildren, Allyson and Addison McGovern, and Landon, Bryce, and Aiden Weatherford. She is also survived by her youngest brother, Robert Hickok.

The funeral will take place on Friday, September 10, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Enid Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Lanman Funeral Home, Inc. of Medford.   Viewing will be held on Thursday, September 9, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
