Kathy Warren-Moss

March 10, 1958 — January 16, 2021

Goltry, OK

My wife and our dear mother, Kathy Harrelson Warren-Moss was born to W.C. and Jewell Cooper Harrelson, on March 10, 1958 in Red Level, Alabama. She peacefully passed into her Savior’s arms on January 16, 2021 after a brief illness.

Kathy spent her childhood in River Falls and attended twelve years of school in Red Level. She was the youngest, and much loved little sister, of her five siblings. She grew up attending church with her family and had her first encounter with the Lord in her early teens. She remained true to that commitment for the rest of her life.

On September 8, 1979 she was married to her first love, John M. Warren.  Three children were born to this union . He passed away on September 6, 2001. She mourned his passing with courage and the help of her children.  After her children reached school age, she began working at the Red Level School in many different capacities. Her time at the school was very dear to her, and she made many lasting friendships.

On July 24, 2014 she was joined in marriage to me, Richard B. Moss, in Irondale, Alabama.  At this time she gained four bonus children, which she loved as her own. Unbeknownst to my “Special K”, this marriage would mark the beginning of a journey we never would have predicted. She had been content in her walk of faith to this point, but felt the Lord’s call to a deeper relationship with Him. The most memorable part of this journey was on March 27, 2015, when we both were baptized by Minister Patrick Koehn into the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, at Goltry Oklahoma.  She loved her church family, and they loved her deeply. Missing her own grandchildren, she became Grandma to many of the little children in whose lives she will remain in memory as “Grandma Kathy”.

Those left to mourn her passing are her loving husband, Richard; three children, Geoffrey and Kelsie Warren of Goltry, Oklahoma, Cody and Kelli Warren and Allison and Andrew Johnson, all of Opp, Alabama; four bonus children, Ryan Moss of Dayton, Tennessee, Catee and Jordan Buckner of Hayden, Alabama, Riley Moss of Ames, Oklahoma, Rusty Moss of Hayden, Alabama, and thirteen grandchildren who affectionately called her Shug-Shug. She is also survived by five siblings, Terry and Peggy Harrelson, Sandra Broom, Sheila and Jamie Kelley, Charles “Bear” and Brenda Harrelson and Roger and Susan Harrelson; her sister-in-law, Lynn and Tony Holmes; numerous nieces; nephews, and a host of friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, W.C. and Jewell Harrelson, and her first husband, John Warren.
