Beverly Rapp

d. May 7, 2019

Medford, OK

Beverly Jean Wirick Rapp was born August 17, 1930 to Floyd and Mary (Morawitz) Wirick. She attended 1st grade at Fairview School of rural Sand Creek, Oklahoma and finished 8th grade at Fairview School near Dexter, Kansas. She spent three years at Dexter High School and then graduated as Co-Salutatorian of Manchester High School, Manchester, Oklahoma in 1948.  She worked for the Farmer’s COOP Elevator Company for 1 1/2 years as an accounts receivable book keeper before her marriage to Forrest Leon Rapp in 1949, to which they welcomed six children, Cheryl, Mary, Leslie, Rodney, Lisa, and Randall.

Beverly worked as an Income Tax accountant for several years.  She mainly referred to herself though as a “Farm Wife” rather than a “House Wife” when she worked on her income tax farm. Some of her many talents were: gardening, especially her flowers in the yard, embroidery, reading, sewing, and writing. She wrote extensively for the church newsletter and also wrote personal memorials for dear friends and loved ones. Beverly collected many sets of Depression Glass dishes that she passed on to her family. Anything “antique”, especially from family, was very important to her. She took piano lessons at an early age on her father’s piano and sang in the choir for many years.

Beverly was a member of the Wakita United Methodist Church, a UMW president, and Sunday School teacher in her “motherhood” years. She was a Farm Bureau member for some 30 years, serving as Women’s Committee Chairperson. She also was a Cherryvale Grange member, serving as secretary and treasurer for many years. She led an active and productive life, enjoying good health for most of her years. Beverly enjoyed crossword puzzles, watching Days of Our Lives for 40 years, and loved dark chocolate and onions (not necessarily together). She was an avid Oklahoma City Thunder fan who would stay up late to watch the games.  A favorite past time was writing and recounting family history about her collection of antiques. She always liked to set a pretty table and had many hand-made table cloths. Beverly had continued the tradition of Christmas Breakfast started by her grandmother, Della. She insisted on having a Christmas tree every year, always decorating it herself.

She is survived by her husband, Forrest Leon Rapp; children, Cheryl Shafer and husband, Larry, Mary Krehbiel, and husband, Keith, Leslie Nutter, and husband, Steve, Rodney Rapp, and wife, Charlotte, Lisa Ryan and husband, Kevin, Randall Rapp and children of the heart, Louise and Roy Weidner. She was loved deeply by her grandchildren, Sharen Smith, Sheila Conrady and husband, Mark, Rebecca Walkup and husband, Matt, Curtis Nutter and wife, Linda, Clayton Krehbiel and wife, Lindsey, Mitchel Nutter, Camille Germany and husband, Colin, Stephanie Nutter, Grant Ryan, and Faith Ryan. She especially enjoyed her great-grandchildren, Colton and Carlie Conrady, Aidan Smith, Elijah, Gabriel, Malachi and Azariah Nutter, Elizabeth Walkup, and expected baby brother; two sisters, Shirley Stoabs and husband, Leon and Mary Ann Dickey and husband, Joe; numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.

Those who preceded Beverly in death include brother, John Wirick; sister, Velasta Keimig; grandson, Garrett Ryan and half-sister, Betty Jo Walborn.
