Dorothy Smith

Funeral service for Dorothy Smith will be Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Cherokee with burial at Cherokee Municipal Cemetery.  Viewing will be Tuesday, September 25, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.  Arrangements are by Lanman Funeral Home, Inc. of Cherokee.  www.lanmanmemorials.com  Facebook:  Lanman Funeral Home Inc.

Dorothy Smith was born November 6, 1930 in Drummond to Floyd Hughes and Vivian Speelman Hughes and passed from this life on September 22, 2018.  After her marriage to Herbert Dale “Pete” Smith, she had lived in the Cherokee area all her life.  She was a member of the Cherokee United Methodist Church.  After she moved to Enid in 2002, she joined Emmanuel Baptist Church.   She was involved in Bridge Club, Sara Circle and United Methodist Women.  She also sponsored all of her children’s band, speech and athletic teams and any trips they took.  She was very devoted and never missed anything in which her kids were involved.  Dorothy had worked for Cole’s Flowers for a number of years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Pete Smith; her parents, Floyd and Vivian Hughes; two brothers, Jerry and Robert and numerous close friends.

She is survived by her daughters, Cynthia Ann Spradling and husband, Harold, Lisa Elizabeth Mirelez and husband, Bobby, son, Michael Pete Smith and wife, Connie; three special nieces, Lori Hughes Wilcox, Abby Hughes and Robin Betchan; four grandchildren, Michael Scott MacGregor, Michael Pete Smith, Faith Elizabeth Mirelez and Rachel Lyn Mirelez; five great grandchildren, Maddex MacGregor, Miles MacGregor, Madison MacGregor, Oren Smith and Grayson Sunday-Mirelez; several other nieces and friends.

Memorials may be made to Cherokee United Methodist Women through the funeral home.
