Joy Fern Bierig

Okeene-Joy Fern Bierig was born in Twitty, Texas on June 25, 1933 to parents, Buell Smith and Linnie Bell Harris Smith and passed from this life in Okeene, Oklahoma on May 5, 2019.  As a child she moved, with her parents, to Okeene and spent her lifetime living in Okeene. She and Warren Bierig were married in Enid on September 4, 1948 and they had four children: Brenda, Barry, Bobby and Bryan.  Joy spent her time raising her family and being a cook at various health care centers.  She belonged to a Bridge Club, the Red Hat Society, Jaycee Janes and the Senior Citizens group.  She was also a member of the First Christian Church in Okeene.

Joy was preceded in death by her husband, Warren Bierig; her son, Bobby Bierig; her parents, Buell and Linnie Bell Smith; three brothers and two sisters.

Those left to cherish her memory are three children, Brenda and Tim Fox of Okeene, Barry and Janet Bierig of Newnan, Georgia, and Bryan and Tammy Bierig of Okeene; ten grandchildren, Tasha and Karl Mears, Heather and Noel Coté, Angela and Brad Schiska, Jennifer and Chris Kill, Casey Bierig, Angel DeWittt, Brittania Mills, Crystal and Don Lightfoot, Christine DeMello, Anthony and Tammy Harris; thirty-three great-grandchildren, and eleven great-great-grandchildren; many nephews, nieces and other family members.

Joy’s memorial service will be Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at First Christian Church in Okeene.  Burial will be in Isabella Cemetery with arrangements by Lanman Funeral Home, Inc. of Okeene.  On Friday from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. family and friends may come to the funeral home, sign Joy’s book, and spend time looking at family pictures.  www.lanmanmemorials.com  Facebook:  Lanman Funeral Home Inc.
