Judy Kay (Vore) Newman

August 5, 1941 ~ July 6, 2019 (age 77)

Judy Kay Vore Cameron Newman

Judy was born in the waning years of World War II in Alva to Clyde and Marji Vore and passed from this life on Saturday, July 6, 2019 at Fairview Hospital at the age of 77.  She grew up on a farm in Dacoma where her love of animals was born.  She was valedictorian in her senior year and she also sang, played and taught piano.  It was at this time that she met her husband, Burnell Cameron.   To this union was born three children: daughters, Jeanette and Junell and son, Les.  Her love of music inspired her to teach this to her children.  In those years she joined Sweet Adelines, an Oklahoma City based Choir. She loved singing immensely and often told tales of concert performances and the friends she made there.  Leaving United Founders Tower as her first job in the corporate world, she moved to Grand Island, Nebraska in 1975 to raise her family.  She divorced in 1978 and moved to the east coast to work and enjoy Broadway plays.  She came back to Oklahoma during the Boom of the 80’s to work at Statex Petroleum.  She loved bridge and was a grand master eventually.  It is here that she met Don Newman.  She always said that he was the true love of her life.   When she and Don were married Judy worked as an accountant for the Jewish Federation League in Oklahoma City and the director, Garth, helped Judy set up a non-profit called “Granny’s Toy Closet.  Judy placed toys and books anywhere there were children in need so that they were able to check out books and toys to take home.  She wanted children to have the opportunity to learn to enjoy reading.  After they married, Judy helped Don raise his daughter, Shannon.  They also helped raise their grandchildren, Randy, Jamie and Brian Tripp, and Devin and Jordan Tiger.  Judy and Don helped to see the grandchildren through to adulthood.  They loved their children and grandchildren very much, and there wasn’t anything that they wouldn’t do for them.    Her love for all was absolute and unending.  She will be greatly missed by all.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Marji and Clyde Vore; her husband, Don Newman; husband, Burnell Cameron; her two daughters, Jeanette and Junell and one granddaughter, Serna Willey.

Survivors include her son, Les Cameron; stepdaughter, Shannon Tiger; grandchildren, Randy, Jamie and Brian Tripp, Devin and Jordan Tiger; Shaun Willey and Rickey Newman.
