Kelly Springer

March 28, 1956 — January 22, 2021

Carmen

Kelly Waldon Springer was born on March 28, 1956 and died on January 22, 2021 after a short illness.

Born to Jack Dean and Mary Jean (Slack) Springer, Kelly spent his childhood on the family farm east of Carmen, Oklahoma.  Kelly started his life of hard work at a young age, dedicating his earliest years to making mischief for his older siblings, Vicky, Kirk, and Janet.  Kelly was born into a family that valued loyalty, unconditional love, and a good off-color joke.

He graduated from Carmen-Dacoma High School in 1974 and Alva Vocational Technical School with training in Auto Mechanics.

The work Kelly most treasured was the farm and cattle, but he also proudly worked various jobs in the oil fields of Oklahoma, for the City of Okeene, United States Gypsum, and Brickman Fast Line, from which he recently retired.

Kelly had the best night of his life on New Year’s Day 2000, when he married the love of his life, Cindy. Kelly and Cindy built a life filled with unwavering love, family, laughter, and donkeys.  Most recently they renovated the old Carmen farmhouse and began a new chapter of their life together living on the farm, a long-awaited dream.  With his best buddy dogs, Bella and Porter, his love, Cindy, and his kids, Jason, Melissa, and Scott, Kelly was enjoying the greatest and most contented years of his life.

Kelly is survived by his wife, Cindy of the family farm; daughter, Melissa Smith and fiancé, Jeff Reynolds of Alexandria, Virginia; son, Scott Collier, fiancé, Kirsten Delozier, and son, Criss of Edmond, Oklahoma; son, Jason Smith and wife, Deborah of Virginia Beach, Virginia; sisters,Vicky Olson and family of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; Janet Sheik and family of Carmen, Oklahoma; brother, Kirk Springer and family of Sayre, Oklahoma, and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Service for Kelly will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 27, 2021, at the Alfalfa County Fairground Exhibit Building, 602 W. 5th Street, Cherokee, Oklahoma.  A private family burial will follow at the Carmen Public Cemetery.  Viewing will be Tuesday, January 26, 2021, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Lanman Funeral Home, Inc. in Cherokee.

Out of deference to Kelly’s wishes, masks are mandatory.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made through the funeral home to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the animal shelter of your choice.
