Ronald Lloyd Domnick

January 24, 1942  -  January 20 2023

Ronald Lloyd Domnick was born January 24, 1942, in Hardtner, Kansas.  He was the second of five children of Floyd Domnick and Doris Fritz Domnick.

Ronnie or Domnick as all who knew him fondly called him, grew up west of Burlington, Oklahoma on his family’s farm and attended Burlington and Kiowa schools.  A significant part of Ronnie’s life was wheat harvest.  He would travel with his family-owned custom harvest crew from North Texas all the way to the Canadian Border.  During harvest, while traveling through Garden City, Ronnie met, and fell in love with Theresa Mader.  Theresa and Ronnie were married from 1961-1973. From their union, they were blessed with four children: Janet, Vickie, Kayan, and Ronnie.

Ronnie had taken over Domnick’s Custom Cutting and continued to go on harvest for the next several years.  When he retired from the Custom Cutting business, he signed on to work at Humphrey’s in Kiowa as their lead mechanic.  During his time at Humphrey’s, he met Doris “Dori” Esparza and in November of 1976 they were wed.  For the first ten years of their marriage, they enjoyed being with friends, traveling, skiing, and going on many motorcycle trips. Later in their marriage, Ronnie and Dori were blessed yet again with two children: Jerrad and Jessica.

With the skillset that he had acquired over the years, Domnick was selected by Massey Ferguson to travel to Guatemala and teach their local workers how to utilize their equipment.  After his time with Humphrey’s, he started his own business, Domnick’s Service and Repair.  As if that didn’t keep him busy enough, Ronnie worked for the Rural Water and was elected Mayor of Kiowa!  He enjoyed coaching soccer and attending his children/grandchildren’s extracurricular activities even into their adulthood.

After Dori passed away in 2006, Ronnie filled the years with work and traveling to spend time with family and grandkids.  He was lucky to find companionship with Marla Skeet Talbott.  They shared many good years together, working goats and taking trips to Branson and Hawaii.  The last few years of his life, Ronnie fought a brave battle with Alzheimer’s.  He was a resident at the Attica Long Term Care facility in the Memory Care Unit, where he received the most excellent care. The staff there became an extended family.  In the early morning hours of January 20, 2023, surrounded by loved ones, Ronnie ended his battle with Alzheimer’s.  He will be missed dearly and remembered fondly by those who knew and loved him.

Ronnie is preceded in death by his mother and father, Floyd and Doris Domnick; his wife, Doris Kay Domnick; his brother and sister, Junior Domnick and Cindy Domnick; his grandson, Joshua Swafford, and his son-in law, Douglas Swafford.

Ronnie is survived by Janet Cook (John) of Hardtner, Kansas; Vickie Albright (Kevin) of Harper, Kansas; Kayan Domnick of Attica, Kansas; Ronnie Domnick (Tammy); Jerrad Domnick of Meade, Kansas; Jessica Alexander (Andrew) of Meade, Kansas; Terry Domnick (Donna) of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Judith Kildow (Roger) of Cherokee, Oklahoma; Skeet Talbott of Kiowa, Kansas; fifteen grandchildren, and sixteen great-grandchildren with two great-grandchildren on the way.
