Wayne Keith Janzen

August 27, 1956   ---   September 26, 2022

Wayne Keith Janzen, loving son, brother, uncle, friend and follower of Jesus Christ, went to be with the Lord on Monday, September 26, 2022 at the age of 66.

Wayne, son of Gus and Amie Reimer Janzen, was born in Thomas, Oklahoma on August 27, 1956.  The Janzen family moved to Okeene, Oklahoma soon after his birth.  Wayne enjoyed growing up with two brothers, Steve and Danny, on the family farm.  Wayne grew up in a Christian home and became a Christian at an early age.  He loved to read and study the Bible.  His faith provided the direction for his life.  He attended the Okeene Mennonite Brethren Church where he was baptized in his teen years.  Later in life he attended, and became a member of Emmanuel Enid Church. Wayne went to Okeene Public School where he participated in football and band.  He graduated in 1974 with friends, many of whom became lifelong friends.  After graduating from high school, Wayne attended Tabor College in Hillsboro, Kansas and majored in Business Administration.  He graduated in 1978.  After college he returned to the family farm and raised wheat, alfalfa, and cattle.  Part of the farming operation included a custom harvesting business which included his Dad and brothers.  Wayne respected the hard work involved and also enjoyed the adventure of a harvesting trip which went from Oklahoma to Kansas, Colorado, Nebraska, and Montana.  Wayne greatly enjoyed working alongside his Dad and brothers in the operation of the farm and was blessed by the time they spent together.  He remained involved in agriculture when he was in the Oklahoma Ag Leadership Program which took him to China to study Chinese agriculture.  Wayne was a founding member of the Oklahoma No-Till Association because of his interest in no-till farming practices.

Wayne also started a trucking business that specialized in the delivery of petroleum and ag products.

Wayne had a passion for aviation which he pursued throughout his life.  His interest in flying was something he shared with his Dad, brothers, and nieces, nephews, and friends.  He became a licensed pilot while at Tabor College.  He enjoyed numerous trips to the EAA airshow in Oshkosh with friends and family.  Wayne also enjoyed snow skiing, hunting, and traveling.  Wayne enjoyed a large group of family and friends.  He was always looking forward to the next adventure with them.  His nephews and nieces and also his great-nephews and nieces held such a special place in his life!

Through Enid Emmanuel, Wayne became involved in the Hosanna Mission which included traveling to Niger to help establish new water wells for the people there.

Wayne passed away in his home in Okeene on Monday, September 26, 2022.  Although he will be greatly missed, we rejoice in the faith that we will be reunited with Wayne in Heaven someday.

Wayne is preceded in death by his Father, Gus Janzen.

Those left to cherish his memory are his Mother, Amie Janzen of Enid, Oklahoma; his brothers, Steve (Rita) Janzen of Enid, Oklahoma and Danny (Lora) Janzen of Aurora, Nebraska; nephews and nieces, Andrew (Lynsey) Janzen, Sarah (Adam) Quinn, Evan (Emily) Janzen, Garrett (Anna) Janzen, Dylan (McKenzie) Janzen and Bethany (Teague) Janzen McFadden.  Wayne is also survived by many cousins and special friends.

Memorials may be made to “Hosanna” the African mission that had a special place in his heart, or to “Adam and Sarah Quinn” for their Costa Rican ministry through the funeral home.

Wayne’s service will be at Emmanuel Enid on Monday, October 3, 2022 with Pastor Wade Burleson officiating.  There will be visitation with the family at Emmanuel Enid at 10:00 a.m. with Wayne’s funeral service at 11:00 a.m.  The graveside service will be at 2:00 p.m. at Roselawn Cemetery east of Okeene.  Lanman Funeral Home, Inc. of Okeene is in charge of arrangements.  www.lanmanmemorials.com  Facebook:  Lanman Funeral Home Inc.
